Solar Nation has announced the installation and commissioning of an 81kW solar-electric system on Harris Thermal Transfer Products in Newberg, Oregon. Harris Thermal installed the solar-electric system to reduce and stabilize energy costs and to follow through on its longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship.

The 6,000 square foot solar-electric system was designed, engineered, and installed by Solar Nation. The rooftop array is comprised of 336 EcoDuo solar panels. In addition to the panels, the system incorporates one Advanced Energy inverter and a Deck web-based monitoring system. Clean, renewable energy generated by the system would be enough to power up to 83 homes and will meet 8% of Harris Thermal’s electricity needs, providing immediate savings for the company.

The installation of the solar-electric system is part of Harris Thermal’s continuing dedication to environmental impact reduction. It is estimated that this solar-electric system will cut greenhouse gas emissions by 60.4 metric tons annually—the equivalent CO2 offset of 1,549 tree seedlings planted or taking 12 cars off the road each year.

“Harris Thermal Transfer Products is proud to be doing our part in minimizing our footprint on the world,” explained Janice Ashford, Controller of Harris Thermal Transfer Products. “It feels good to know that we can make a difference in our business and our world. We hope our success can help convince other companies to implement green-energy practices in their day-to-day operations.”

“Harris Thermal Transfer Products has a passion for quality and service and a commitment to sustainability. We are proud that they chose Solar Nation to further that commitment. By installing an advanced solar-electric system, Harris Thermal Transfer Products will realize immediate and long-term savings that will make them an even stronger business, an even stronger employer, all the while reducing emissions and helping the environment,” said Dan Drummond, Chief Executive Officer of Solar Nation.
