Vestas Appoints New General Manager in Turkey

Olcayto Yigit has a solid business experience of 20 years, of which 16 years are within the energy sector. Prior to joining Vestas, he held several senior managerial positions at GE Energy, which included working as Sales Director of Power Generation. Olcayto holds a B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Bosphorus University and a M.Sc. in Engineering Management from Marmara University in Turkey. 

Vestas installed its first turbine in the Turkish market in 1984, and since then the company is a key player in the market. In January 2008, Vestas established an office in Istanbul, which is responsible for all sales, construction, service & maintenance operations in Turkey. As of 31 December 2011, Vestas delivered to the Turkish market a cumulative capacity of 556 MW. 

Juan Araluce, President Vestas Mediterranean and Chief Sales Officer, Vestas Wind Systems, states:  “Provided that the Turkish government offers the support needed to the wind industry through a long-term regulatory framework, Turkey has the possibility to achieve the country’s goals for 2023 (30 per cent of Turkey’s electricity production is to come from renewable energy resources by 2023 with 20,000 MW of wind power installed).
