Gamesa, a global technology leader in the wind energy industry, has finished the construction of the Bii Nee Stipa II wind farm in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, developed and constructed to Enel Green Power.
The wind farm is outfitted with 37 G80-2.0 MW wind turbines and has a total combined installed capacity of 74 MW.
The wind farm, located in the isthmus of Tehuantepec -an area with high wind resource- has a capacity factor of around 40%, which means that wind turbines could produce more than 250 million kWh per year of clean energy and avoiding the emission of 100,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Gamesa has a significant presence in Latin America and particularly in Mexico, where it develops both the development and sale of wind farms activity as well as the supply and installation of wind turbines.
As wind power developer, Gamesa has developed, built and commissioned more than 100 MW in Mexico, and has another 70 MW at varying stages of development. The pipeline amounts 144 MW.
At March 2012, Gamesa has installed more than 540 MW in Latinoamerica (Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Venezuela...). The wind turbines sales in this region accounted for the 30% of the total MW sold by the company in the same period.
