SUMEC Group, the parent company of Phono Solar, announced that FIRMAN® diesel generating set has successfully obtained the honor of being the partner of emergency power support equipment of 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

Qatar can be described as subtropical dry, hot desert climate with low annual rainfall, very high temperatures of 55℃in summer and a big difference between maximum and minimum temperatures, especially in the inland areas. This is accompanies with sandstorms all year round. With these conditions, FIFA (Federation International de Football Association) has set demanding requirements for the emergency power supply to the heavy power load needed for the news center of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to generate consistent, high efficient power for uninterrupted coverage – whatever the weather conditions.

FIRMAN® diesel generating set is always equipped with the product superiority of low fuel consumption, low emission, low noise and easy maintenance. To cope with extreme weather in the desert, FAD air channel optimization technique, independently researched and developed by SUMEC, is adapted and made sand proof to ensure stability of power output.  In the meantime, adhering to the idea of “small products and great services”, SUMEC provides a full service solution covering product planning, equipment manufacturing, project management and installation, staff training, 24/7 response units and so forth, bringing the optimal experience to customers during the project cycle.

In fact, this is not the only achievement of SUMEC in the tropics. Early this year, the 1.25MW ground-based PV power plant, located in Punjab Province in Pakistan, was successfully switched on and made grid connection. This plant is the first megawatt-level PV power plant since the establishment of Pakistan, and SUMEC, as the main contractor of the power plant.

Like Qatar, Punjab is hot and humid, especially from June to August similar temperatures of 50℃and 90% humidity can be reached. Again, Sumec encouraged its daughter company Phono Solar to develop PV modules with resistance to high temperature and humidity, to ensure stable and durable power supply within these extreme weather conditions.

CAI Jibo, the president of SUMEC, said that SUMEC, as a large-scale central enterprise with 37-year history in China, focuses on the internationalization and diversification of three fields, knowing, trade and service, engineering contracting as well as investment and development.

Winning the bid for emergency power supply by FIRMAN® diesel generating set for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the successful grid connection of the first megawatt-level PV power plant in Pakistan have confirmed the ability of high-end manufacturing capacity and engineering capacity of SUMEC.
