Trina Solar Has Shipped Over 1GW of PV Modules to India

Trina Solar is one of the world’s leaders of PV module manufacturing and shipping. In early June, the company achieved a milestone in delivering more than 1GW of PV modules to India, boosting the company’s market share in the country to around 20%.

Trina Solar tapped into the Indian market back in 2010, and has successfully built an built an extensive sales network throughout the country, offering solar PV solutions to developers, distributors, EPC contractors, independent power producers (IPPs), and others. The channel partners play a key role for Trina Solar to surpass 1GW of module shipment in India.

With the over 1GW of module shipments, Trina Solar’s solar panels are estimated to power 4.2million homes in India and offset 1.4 million tons of CO2 emissions per year over traditional coal generation. India has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing solar market in the world as the government launched an ambitious installation target for the country – to add 100GW of solar by 2022. By March 2016, the nationwide solar installation was approximately 5.8GW according to Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE’s) statistics.
