China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported recently that the country’s PV industry performed consistently well during the January-February period of this year with manufacturers on the whole posting steady growth. Citing announcements and data from companies and industry associations, MIIT said that the domestic production volume of c-Si cells in the two-month period surpassed 39GW. Also, prices of c-Si cells kept rising due to various factors.

Regarding the polysilicon section of the PV supply chain, the domestic production volume in the January-February period came to around 110,000 metric tons. The average price of mono-Si dense material stood at RMB 233/kg in January and RMB 240/kg in February. As for silicon PV wafers, the domestic production volume in the January-February period came to around 40GW, of which 5.1GW was exported to overseas markets. The average price of mono-Si M6 wafers stood at RMB 5.05/piece in January and RMB 5.30/piece in February.

Turing back to c-Si cells, MIIT reported that the domestic production volume in the January-February period totaled around 39.5GW. The average price of mono-Si M6 PERC cell stood at RMB 1.06/W in January and RMB 1.09/W in February. Moving to PV modules, the export volume in the same two months amounted to 21.9GW. Finally, the domestic production volume of PV inverters came to around 27GW in the two-month period.
