In response to issues of global climate change and energy shortages, the Taiwanese government is actively handling energy transition and green energy deployment. In order to meet the needs of government policies and industrial development, the Taiwan Electric Research and Testing Center (TERTEC), has established a special department "Smart Energy Test Office."
In the future, it will provide project research and testing services related to renewable energy such as solar photovoltaic, offshore wind power, smart converters, electric vehicle charging equipment, power regulators, energy storage systems, and hydrogen fuel cells. TERTEC Chairman, Kuo Gang-nan, stated that TERTEC, as a professional technical organization affiliated with the government, has the mission and social responsibility of assisting and cooperating with the government to achieve energy transition policy goals and must use its own professional capabilities to contribute to the country and society.
TERTEC has long focused on the fields of power quality, electrical safety, smart meters, and renewable energy, especially in smart green energy, and has invested a lot of resources to improve the detection of energy and the environment such as electric vehicle charging equipment testing services. TERTEC is the only company in Taiwan with complete electric vehicle AC and DC charging and swapping system safety regulations, charging cable sets and charging communication protocols that can provide high voltage/high power (capacity up to 1500V/750kW) test energy such as slow charging, fast charging, and battery swapping.
The smart converter testing service will complete the megawatt-level (MW) converter testing standard this year, becoming the only testing organization in the country with one-stop services for grid connection, safety regulations, electromagnetic compatibility, and information security with megawatt-level capacity. TERTEC’s solar photoelectric detection service is the only solar simulator with flash type long pulse width (800ms) in the country with the most advanced large-scale solar photoelectric modules, salt spray, and spectral response test equipment.
TERTEC is a non-profit organization that combines the functions of a "research, test, and verification" system. Its service fields cover research, test, verification, authentication, inspection, calibration, and personnel training. It has many professional testing laboratories including for safety regulations and electromagnetic phase. TERTEC has been recognized by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, the Bureau of Energy, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF), and is the only organization in the country that can perform certifications for the Japan Electrical Safety and Environment Technology Laboratories (JET). In addition to green energy products, TERTEC’s business scope also provides testing services for household electrical appliances, lighting fixtures, water-saving appliances, materials and chemistry, and electrical equipment.
In order to assist customers in exporting products, TERTEC cooperates with many international institutions including ENERGY STAR, JET, UL, TÜV Rheinland, TÜV Nord, Intertek, DEKRA, DNV, French B.V, etc. TERTEC provides customers with the convenient services of local testing and multi-country verification.
