On January 28, Cornex New Energy reached a significant milestone at its 70GWh lithium battery production base in Xiangyang, as the main structure of Cell Workshop No. 3—the project’s first cell production facility—officially topped out.
With a total investment of 22 billion RMB, the Xiangyang project commenced construction on October 28, 2025. It aims to build a full industrial chain integrated from battery cells and PACK production to energy storage systems. Currently, the pile foundations and basic construction have been fully completed. As main structures continue to top out, the installation of prefabricated columns and steel structures is now in full swing.
Cornex New Energy has established a strategic production layout within Hubei Province, with its headquarters in Wuhan and three major manufacturing bases in Yichang, Xiaogan, and Xiangyang. Furthermore, the company is extending its reach with a new overseas base in Egypt.
Strategic Layout of Key Bases:
Yichang Base (Delivery Core): Phase I (65GWh) has achieved stable production. Construction for Phase II (80GWh) began in September 2025 and is currently at its peak, with commissioning expected in September 2026. This facility focuses on the large-scale mass production of ultra-high-capacity cells, such as 472Ah and 688Ah.
Xiaogan Base (Smart Manufacturing & Incubation): This base achieved full-scale production in 2025. As a technology incubation center, it spearheaded the mass production of dedicated ultra-large-capacity energy storage cells, utilizing its high-automation manufacturing advantages.
Wuhan Headquarters (R&D & Logistics): In May 2025, a 50GWh warehousing and logistics expansion project was launched. The headquarters focuses on R&D innovation and global order dispatching.
Egypt Base (Overseas Capacity): In January 2026, Cornex New Energy signed an agreement with the Egyptian company Kemet Industries Group. The plan includes an investment of approximately $200 million (around 1.4 billion RMB) to construct a 5GWh energy storage battery factory.
