Driven by industrial demand, various battery projects have been intensively launched in fields ranging from anode materials, cathode material precursors to solid-state batteries and cylindrical batteries.
Zijin Mining's 25,000-ton Lithium Carbonate Project Enters Commissioning Trial Production
On March 18, according to news from Shanghang County Media Convergence Center, the annual 25,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate project for crude carbon production of Fujian Zijin Lithium Element Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has officially entered the commissioning trial production phase after completing preliminary construction and debugging.
It is reported that the project has a planned annual production capacity of 25,000 tons. Using crude lithium carbonate as the basic raw material, it adopts the carbonization method combined with resin deep impurity removal technology to purify and produce high-quality battery-grade lithium carbonate. The produced battery-grade lithium carbonate will be directly supplied to the group's internal lithium iron phosphate cathode material production lines, mainly used in the manufacturing of new energy vehicle power batteries.
Youngy Co., Ltd.'s 50,000-ton High-performance Lithium Battery Anode Material Project
On the evening of March 23, Youngy Co., Ltd. issued an announcement stating that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lanzhou Youngy Materials, plans to construct an annual 50,000-ton high-performance lithium ion battery anode material project in Lanzhou New Area, with a total fixed asset investment of approximately 1.1 billion yuan.
The announcement shows that Youngy Co., Ltd. has previously established a wholly-owned subsidiary, Lanzhou Youngy Materials, in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, to engage in businesses related to lithium ion battery anode materials, which completed the industrial and commercial registration procedures on December 13, 2024.
Lanzhou Youngy Materials signed the State-owned Construction Land Use Right Transfer Contract with the Lanzhou New Area Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning in May 2025. Currently, the land parcel has been delivered to Lanzhou Youngy Materials, which plans to build the annual 50,000-ton high-performance lithium ion battery anode material project on the land.
Welion New Energy's 2 Billion Yuan Solid-state Battery Project Signed
According to news from Investment Huadu, on March 20, the Guangdong Welion Solid-state Battery Industrial Park and the Solid-state Battery Greater Bay Area Research Institute project was signed.
The project is jointly laid out by Beijing Welion Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Energy Storage Industry Development Co., Ltd. under Guangdong Energy Group. It is expected to invest 2 billion yuan, cover an area of about 215 mu, and achieve an annual output value of 2.4 billion yuan.
Phase II Project of CATL's Subsidiary Starts Construction in Chengdu
On March 23, according to news from Chengdu Release, Chengdu Xinjin Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has started the construction of its phase II project, which is expected to be delivered and put into operation in July this year. Upon operation, it will add an annual output value of 5 billion yuan.
It is reported that Chengdu Xinjin Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL. It signed a contract to settle in Xinjin, Chengdu in February 2021 and was officially put into operation in October of the same year. Its products cover major global energy storage markets including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and South Korea.
In August 2023, Xinjin Times New Energy officially obtained the PAS 2060 carbon neutrality certification issued by SGS, a world-renowned certification body, becoming the 4th zero-carbon factory under CATL. A relevant person in charge of Xinjin Times New Energy said that the overall progress has been completed by about 15%, and the outdoor newly-built units are in the final stage of pile foundation construction. It is expected that the cell workshops will be gradually delivered on the 5th of next month for equipment installation and commissioning, and the project will be delivered and put into operation in July.
Xinjiang's 3GWh High-performance Cylindrical Lithium Ion Battery Project Signed
On March 19, Xinjiang Jinlin Huike Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement for the annual 3GWh high-performance cylindrical lithium ion battery project with the XPCC New Building Materials Economic and Technological Development Zone under the 11th Division (Construction Engineering Division) of the XPCC.
The project has a total investment of about 360 million yuan, a planned land area of 101 mu, and a total construction area of 228,000 square meters. The project adopts a parallel layout of ternary and lithium iron phosphate dual technical routes, with a planned production capacity of 2GWh for the ternary system and 1GWh for the lithium iron phosphate system. Its products cover three mainstream cylindrical battery specifications in the current market: 18650, 21700, and 32140, matching the two major application scenarios of power and energy storage.
EIA Public Notice for Inx's Solid-state Battery Project
On March 19, the official website of the Zhongshan Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment released the acceptance announcement of the Environmental Impact Report for the new construction project of R&D and manufacturing of a new generation of solid-state battery cells and modules by Inx Energy Technology (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd.
The project is located in Torch Development Zone, Zhongshan City, covering a land area of 16,352.7 square meters and a construction area of 16,352.7 square meters. It mainly engages in the manufacturing and sales of solid-state lithium batteries, with an annual production capacity of 1.16 million solid-state lithium batteries (32.5MWh). The total investment is 160 million yuan, including 2 million yuan for environmental protection.
It is reported that the specific details of the EIA report released this time are different from the previous project filing. At the time of filing, the project's production capacity was set at 0.25GWh of lithium metal solid-state batteries upon completion.
EIA Public Notice for Wanhua Chemical's 240,000-ton Lithium Iron Phosphate Precursor Project
According to news from the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, on March 11, the first public notice of the environmental impact assessment for the annual 240,000-ton iron-based lithium iron phosphate and supporting public and auxiliary facilities project of Hubei Huaxing New Energy Co., Ltd. was released.
The project is located in Yidu Chemical Industrial Park, Hubei Province. It mainly constructs new production workshops, three-dimensional warehouses, tank farms, and supporting auxiliary facilities such as fire water stations, rainwater and accident ponds. Upon completion, it will form an annual production scale of 240,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate.
According to the data, the project construction unit, Hubei Huaxing New Energy Co., Ltd., was established on March 6, 2025, with a registered capital of 600 million yuan. Its business scope includes battery manufacturing, battery sales, emerging energy technology R&D, and recycling and ladder utilization of waste power batteries for new energy vehicles (excluding hazardous waste operation).
