Energy storage orders continue to roll in. Sungrow's 35 MWh energy storage project in Sierra Leone has been officially commissioned, while Trina Solar and Far East Battery have secured new energy storage-related orders. Meanwhile, CATL and CMOC Group Limited (CMOC) have reached a strategic cooperation spanning mineral resources and energy storage, covering diverse areas such as overseas projects, commercial and industrial (C&I) storage, and supply chain synergy.
Far East Battery Secures Over RMB 2.7 Billion in Energy Storage and Lithium Battery Orders
On August 3, Far East Smart Energy Co., Ltd. announced that in July 2026, its subsidiaries won bids or signed contracts valued at over RMB 10 million each, totaling RMB 2.808 billion—a month-on-month increase of 61.95%. From January to July 2026, the company's subsidiaries accumulated a total of RMB 14.756 billion in contract orders valued at over RMB 10 million each.
Within its lithium battery and energy storage system (ESS) business, contract orders valued above RMB 10 million reached RMB 220 million in July. From January to July, the cumulative total of such orders reached RMB 2.73 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 170.5%.
Sungrow's 35 MWh Energy Storage Project Commissioned in Sierra Leone
Recently, a large-scale solar-plus-storage project located in Sierra Leone was officially brought into operation, utilizing Sungrow’s PowerTitan energy storage system.
It is understood that the project is funded by the World Bank as part of the Sierra Leonean government’s Regional Emergency Solar Power Intervention Project (RESPITE). The energy storage system has a total capacity of 35 MWh, equipped with eight units of Sungrow’s PowerTitan series energy storage equipment.
CATL and CMOC Reach Cooperation Agreement on Mineral Resources and Energy Storage
On July 31, CMOC Group Limited (CMOC) announced that its Board of Directors approved a resolution to enter into procurement framework agreements with CATL and KFM Group. The three-year cooperation will span from 2026 to 2028, covering the supply of nickel, cobalt, and copper resources, as well as the procurement of EV power batteries and energy storage battery systems.
Under the agreement, CMOC will supply products including copper, cobalt, and nickel to CATL, while purchasing copper and nickel products as well as EV power battery systems and energy storage battery systems from CATL. From 2026 to 2028, CMOC's total procurement cap from CATL is estimated at approximately US$51 million, with a sales cap of approximately US$131.5 million.
In addition, CMOC signed a continuing connected transaction agreement with KFM Holding. From 2026 to 2028, CMOC’s procurement cap for copper and cobalt products from KFM is estimated at approximately US$278.5 million, while its supply of equipment, materials, power, and related services to KFM will have a cap of approximately US$42.5 million.
Trina Solar Secures 1.827 MWh Commercial and Industrial Storage Order
Recently, Trina Solar partnered with Changzhou Yihe New Energy Group (EcoHope), with the latter placing an additional order for seven units of Trina Solar's Potentia Blue Ocean 2 commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage cabinets, totaling a capacity of approximately 1.827 MWh.
It is reported that Yihe New Energy had previously placed a bulk order for 13 units of Trina's Blue Ocean 2 storage cabinets, which earned strong recognition following project commissioning for their operational stability and cost-reduction performance. This new order will further expand the two parties' collaboration in the C&I energy storage sector.
