Boards of US-Based Clean Energy Trade Groups ACP and ESA Approve Merger

The boards of directors of the American Clean Power Association (ACP) and the US Energy Storage Association (ESA) have voted to merge the two trade groups, thereby combining their staff, programs, and members under a single entity. ACP and ESA are nation-wide organizations that represent major energy companies and lobby state legislatures and the Congress. The reason for the merger is to further enhance the capabilities related to advocacy, research, and education. SEIA Opposes Suniva and Auxin Solar’s Petition for Extending Section 201 Tariffs

American PV module manufacturers Suniva and Auxin Solar are reportedly to have sent a petition to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) asking for an extension of the enforcement of the Section 201 tariffs. The tariffs, which will remain effective up to February 2022, were introduced in 2018 to limit imports of PV modules and cells from other countries, especially China. ...  more

Czech Republic Plans to Spend US$2.4 Billion to Support Development of Local EV Battery Production

News agencies in Europe have reported that the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and ČEZ Group signed a memorandum of understanding indicating that they will be working together to help establish a local EV battery manufacturing plant. The memorandum was signed on July 27, and it entails a project investment of around US$2.4 billion. Jingsheng to Acquire Screen Printing and Wafer Inspection Businesses from Applied Materials

Zhejiang Jingsheng (also known as JSG), a Chinese provider of silicon materials and related processing equipment, announced on July 30 that it will establish a joint venture with Applied Materials, a US-based provider of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This joint venture will then be used to acquire several business units from Applied Materials. Specifically, JSG is targeting the screen printing business in Italy, the wafer inspection business in Singapore, and other related business units in China.
