Vestas has received a 101 MW order for 56 V100-1.8 MW turbines from Consumers Energy for the utility’s Lake Winds Energy Park in Mason County, Mich.

Delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2012, and commissioning is expected in the second half of 2012.

“We are extremely pleased to provide turbines for the largest supplier of renewable energy in Michigan,” said Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas-American Wind Technology, Inc. “Consumers Energy is an outstanding utility with a stellar reputation for delivering power to residents in this great state.”

The Lake Winds Energy Park can provide enough electricity to power 30,000 Michigan homes.

This is the second commercial-scale wind power plant in Michigan to use Vestas turbines. The first, Harvest Wind, was built in 2007 and includes 32 V82-1.65 MW turbines.

In 2011, Vestas has sold its turbines for 11 wind-energy projects in North America totaling 1,417 MW.
