Coulomb Technologies, Inc, the leading electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider announced it has partnered with National Grid and others to extend Coulomb’s ChargePoint® Network throughout New York State with the installation of more than 160 charging ports.

Coulomb received nearly $1 million of $4.4 million in funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)'s Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Demonstration Program to supply, deploy and install charging stations across New York State. “We are proud to receive this funding for such an important infrastructure project in New York State,” said Pat Romano, president and CEO of Coulomb Technologies.

“We look forward to working closely with the leaders in New York to pursue our common goal of EV adoption while simultaneously promoting economic and environmental benefits. This program will place 80 percent of the ChargePoint stations in upstate New York. This will directly address the need to provide ubiquitous EV infrastructure that will allow drivers to be able to travel from New York City to Albany to Buffalo and all points in between.”

Both Coulomb Technologies and National Grid have a strong presence in New York. The ChargePoint Network, for example, is the largest network of public EV charging stations in New York and National Grid delivers electricity and natural gas to about 1.6 million customers in the upstate region.

Coulomb's ChargePoint Network is the largest online global charging network. The ChargePoint Network provides drivers state of the art features including the ability to: help with trip planning, manage the cost of charging, and find and operate public ChargePoint-enabled stations. ChargePoint locations are included on all ChargePoint mobile phone applications for iPhone, Android and Blackberry. These ChargePoint mobile apps provide an easy way to locate stations near any specified address, get turn-by-turn directions, and even start and stop a charging session directly from a smart phone. Additionally, these apps allow drivers to utilize ChargePoint Network's station reservation feature. Drivers can locate reservable stations, and then make, view and cancel a reservation directly from a smart phone.

“National Grid is committed to providing reliable electric service and promoting innovative and efficient uses of energy,” said Ken Daly, National Grid President, New York. “Electric vehicles are one viable alternative fuel option we have at our disposal today. This is a great example of how public and private entities can work together to find innovative solutions. We are proud to be partners with Governor Cuomo, NYSERDA and Coulomb in making electric charging stations easier to access throughout New York State.”
