Kimco Realty Corp., U.S.’s publicly-traded owner and operator of neighborhood and community shopping centers, has announced the opening of a Tesla Motors Inc. Supercharger station at Kimco’s Gateway at Donner Pass shopping center in Truckee, Calif.

“This new highly-anticipated Supercharger site allows customers to charge their vehicle as they shop and dine at our center,” said David Jamieson, vice president of leasing and asset management at Kimco. “We consistently evaluate new opportunities to enhance the shopping experience for our customers and providing charging stations for Tesla owners seemed like the next smart choice.”

The station features six Supercharger bays with the ability to replenish 50% battery capacity for a Tesla Model S in as little as 20 minutes, which is 16 times faster than many of the public electric charging stations now available. Situated behind the Safeway supermarket, the charging bays will be open 24 hours a day.
