In a move to expand its existing transmission and distribution (T&D) utility business and strengthen relationships with power generation companies building photovoltaic projects, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. will now market TMEIC SOLAR WARE Samurai® photovoltaic (PV) inverters and complete PV Power Conditioning Systems (PCS) through its Electrical Distribution Division.

Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation (TMEIC) was formed in 2003 following the merger of the industrial systems departments of Toshiba Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. TMEIC is a global leader in PV inverter design innovation with award winning cooling technology and advanced grid management within an efficient, compact footprint.

“Mitsubishi Electric’s long-term commitment to the utility industry, our unique capability to support the electrical balance of plant with advanced technologies and engineering services, and the strength of our extensive sales network differentiate us from other companies within the PV market segment,” stated Tricia Breeger, general manager, Electrical Distribution Division of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.

The SOLAR WARE Samurai® inverters are UL approved and are designed to meet IEEE 1547 standards for interconnection of distributed resources, with key features for interconnection and plant operation that include:

  • Power factor control
  • Reactive/active power control
  • TMEIC’s proprietary anti-islanding technique
  • Advanced fault ride-through features

“The 1000VDC and 1500VDC TMEIC inverter products achieve California Energy Commission (CEC) efficiencies of 98.5%. This technology provides our customers with the optimal solution in power conversion, while adhering to the highest safety and reliability standards,” said Breeger.
