On August 2, China Energy Engineering Corp. (Energy China) released the shortlist of the selected potential bidders for its 6GW PV inverter tender. According to the tender notice, the inverters that will be acquired through the tender will be deployed in PV projects invested by or contracted out to Energy China and its subsidiaries. The tender will be held in two phases. The first phase will seek 2GW of centralized inverters, and the second phase will seek 4GW of string inverters. This news was first reported by other Chinese renewable energy news outlets.

For the first phase, the selected potential bidders, in order, are Sungrow Power Supply Co. Ltd., TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis Co. Ltd., Zhuzhou National Energy Research Center of Converters Co. Ltd., and Dongguan Hewang Technology Co. Ltd. For the second phase, the selected potential bidders, in order, are Sungrow Power Supply, TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis, Zhuzhou National Engineering Research Center of Converters, Huawei Digital Technologies (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., Zhejiang HRV Electric Co. Ltd., Shenzhen Sofarsolar Co. Ltd., and China Energy Construction (Shanghai) Complete Engineering Co. Ltd. All in all, the shortlist for the first phase contains four suppliers, whereas the shortlist for the second phase contains seven suppliers.

The two-phased tender is further divided into tranches. The winner for each tranche will be first determined through the bidding process and then sign a one-year supply contract with Energy China.

Unless there are other special circumstances, subsidiaries of Energy China will procure inverters under the framework of this tender. They and winning bidders will negotiate the quantity and price for the inverters deployed in the individual projects. Therefore, price and quantity will vary for each project. Subsidiaries will not issue separate inverter tenders that are outside of this framework. The tender notice also states that the selected potential bidders can bid for a single tranche, multiple tranches, or all tranches that are available under the tender.
