Zhuzhou’s TV channel ZZBTV reported on October 10 that construction has begun for a major DG PV project in Mu County. The developer of the project is Zhuzhou CCRC Times Electric, a major Chinese conglomerate that is mainly involved in rail transportation and power equipment. Spanning a total area of 3,600 mu, the project will have a total generation capacity of 300MW. CRRC Times Electric has invested RMB 1.35 billion into the project. Mu County is a part of Zhuzhou, a city in China’s Hunan Province.

CRRC Times Electric will make use of tracts of land on hills and surfaces of ponds to set up a diverse range of PV installations that complement farms, fish farms, and forestry facilities. The minimum generation capacity of each installation is set at 6MW. The whole project, once completed and in operation, will be able to supply up to 300 million kWh of electricity to the State Grid every year. In terms of environmental benefits, the project will be able to save 36,000 tons of standard coal ever year and cut annual CO2 and SO2 emissions by 244,200 tons and 496 tons respectively. Furthermore, the project is expected to contribute to the strengthening of the village economy and effectively promote the development of a local green economy.
