World's First Perovskite Space PV Pilot Line Breaks Ground

published: 2026-05-19 15:22

On May 16, Hengxing Power announced the commencement of construction on the world's first pilot production line for perovskite space photovoltaics. With a total investment of approximately 150 million RMB, the project is expected to be completed and put into operation by August of this year. The launch of this project will further accelerate the industrial validation of perovskite technology within the space energy sector.

Currently, multiple domestic photovoltaic companies have already established a strategic footprint centered around the emerging field of space photovoltaics.

Judging from the current progress, with the large-scale influx of photovoltaic enterprises such as Jinko Solar, Liansheng Technology, and Junda, space photovoltaics is gradually transitioning from the proof-of-concept stage to the engineering and industrialization phases. Meanwhile, high-efficiency cell technologies, such as perovskite and heterojunction (HJT), have emerged as the core focus of competition among these companies. However, it is worth noting that space photovoltaic technology still faces multiple challenges on its path toward large-scale commercial application.
