Sunwoda, Tinci Materials and Others See Fresh Progress in Battery and Energy Storage Projects

published: 2026-07-08 14:39

Recently, projects across the lithium battery and energy storage supply chains have continued to take root, spanning sectors such as battery manufacturing, energy storage systems, and critical materials. Companies including Sunwoda, Jiaotou Zhuoyue, Hanxing Smart Energy, and Wanhua Chemical are accelerating their capacity layouts. Meanwhile, Tinci Materials has adjusted its fundraising investment projects to focus heavily on electrolyte construction, steadily driving the industry's expansion pace forward.

Sunwoda Launches Construction of Phase III at Its Shandong Base

Recently, Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. (Sunwoda) officially launched the construction of the Phase III project at its Zaozhuang base in Shandong Province. Located east of Fuxing Road and south of Guangming Avenue in Zaozhuang City, the Phase III project will feature a high-end smart factory integrating next-generation energy storage batteries and solid-state power batteries, according to the construction plan.

In terms of production line configuration, the Phase III project plans to build 12 battery production lines, specifically including 4 energy storage battery lines, 6 power battery lines, and 2 solid-state battery lines. Once fully completed, the project is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 120 GWh.

Previously, the 16 GWh production line of Phase I at the Zaozhuang base successfully commenced production, and the 24 GWh production line of Phase II is currently under orderly construction. The launch of Phase III construction will continuously expand Sunwoda's capacity advantages in the new energy battery sector.

Jiaotou Zhuoyue's 1 GWh Next-Generation Battery Project Enters Trial Production

On July 3, the zinc-ion battery production base with an annual capacity of 1 GWh, owned by Jiaotou Zhuoyue in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, officially entered trial production.

According to public data, the zinc-ion battery production base project was invested in and constructed by Yangjiang Jiaotou Zhuoyue New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with the overall blueprint divided into three phases. The Phase I production line undergoing trial production involves a total investment of approximately 570 million RMB, with a designed annual output of 1 GWh of zinc-ion energy storage and power battery cells, alongside supporting PACK (battery pack) products.

Tinci Materials Reallocates 400 Million RMB of Raised Funds into Electrolyte Production

On July 4, Guangzhou Tinci High Tech Materials Co., Ltd. (Tinci Materials) issued two consecutive announcements disclosing two major adjustments to its investment projects.

First, the company will reallocate the remaining raised funds of approximately 406 million RMB from the original "Annual Output of 41,000 Tons of Lithium-ion Battery Materials Project (Phase I)" to the "Annual Output of 250,000 Tons of Electrolyte Production Modification and Expansion Project."

It is reported that the new project for the 250,000-ton electrolyte expansion is located in the Long'an Industrial Park in Fuding City, Fujian Province. Implemented by its subsidiary, Fuding Kaixin Battery Materials Co., Ltd., the project involves a total investment of around 598 million RMB and a construction period of 18 months.

Second, the company will terminate the Nantong Tinci project, which aimed for an annual output of 243,000 tons of lithium battery and fluorine-containing new materials. The termination of this project is primarily based on three reasons:

  • Liyang in Jiangsu Province already possesses 200,000 tons of electrolyte capacity, offering a more prominent locational advantage and room for technical upgrades.
  • Core material capacity is concentrated in existing raw material industry cluster bases, yielding higher synergetic efficiency.
  • Shifts in the fluorine-containing materials market environment have left the originally planned products less competitive.

Public Notice Issued for 10 GWh Energy Storage PACK and System Integration Project

On July 5, the project registration form was publicly disclosed for the factory project of Anhui Hanxing Smart Energy Co., Ltd. (Hanxing Smart Energy), which features an annual capacity of 5 GWh of sodium-ion batteries and 10 GWh of energy storage PACK and system integration.

Located in the Feixi County Economic Development Zone in Hefei City, Phase I of the project involves a total investment of 1 billion RMB. The primary construction content includes a 2 GWh sodium-ion battery production workshop, a 5 GWh energy storage PACK and integration workshop, raw material warehouses, office and R&D buildings, staff dormitories, and a cafeteria, alongside purchasing relevant production equipment. Phase II has reserved an area of approximately 80 mu (around 5.3 hectares), with the main production focus on sodium-ion batteries and energy storage PACKs.

The project completed its filing with the Feixi County Development and Reform Commission on December 30, 2025, and is scheduled to break ground in 2026 and reach completion in 2027.

Wanhua Chemical's 70,000-Ton Lithium Carbonate Project Lands in Binzhou, Shandong

Recently, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. (Wanhua Chemical)'s project with an annual output of 70,000 tons of lithium carbonate and supporting public utilities has been undergoing pre-approval public notice.

Sited in the Beihai Economic Development Zone of Binzhou City, Shandong Province, the project plans to build production facilities for an annual output of 70,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate. The core construction elements include two lithium sulfate production lines and two lithium carbonate production lines—both pairs sharing identical scales and processes—complemented by supporting public and auxiliary utilities such as pollution control facilities, water and power supply systems, and storage facilities.

The implementing entity of the project is Wanhua (Binzhou) New Energy Material Technology Co., Ltd., which is wholly owned by Wanhua Chemical (Yantai) Battery Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Wanhua Chemical.
