8GWh! Four Companies Including CATL and Youngy Energy Secure Energy Storage Orders and Project Deployments

published: 2026-08-18 14:04

Recently, multiple companies have successively disclosed their energy storage orders and project progress. Among them, phase two of the Australian Supernode energy storage project, supplied by CATL, has officially been put into operation; Youngy Energy signed a 4GWh battery cell framework agreement; Risen Energy reached a 200MWh energy storage cooperation in Ukraine; and JD Energy completed the shipment for an 800MWh energy storage project.

CATL Supplies Over 3GWh Energy Storage Project in Australia

Recently, phase two of the Australian Supernode energy storage project, developed by Quinbrook, has officially entered commercial operation, with the financial close for phase three completed simultaneously. Currently, the combined capacity of phases one and two reaches 520MW/1858MWh. Upon the completion of phase three, the total energy storage capacity will exceed 3GWh.

CATL is the sole supplier of the energy storage system for this project. Specifically, phase three will exclusively utilize CATL's TENER energy storage system, and the two parties also plan to further collaborate on developing an 8-hour long-duration energy storage solution.

Concurrently, CATL is providing a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) for the Supernode project, covering services such as energy storage system operation monitoring, performance tracking, and preventive maintenance.

Youngy Energy Secures 4GWh Battery Cell Order

On August 15, Youngy Energy and Lineage Power signed a framework cooperation agreement in Shanghai for 4GWh of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells for 2027. This marks another expansion of their cooperation scale, following the 3GWh agreement reached in June of this year.

According to the agreement, Lineage Power plans to purchase a total of 4GWh of 314Ah and 588Ah LFP battery cells from Youngy Energy to meet the demands of its energy storage projects in 2027. The products will primarily be applied in utility-scale as well as commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage projects.

Risen Energy Signs 200MWh Energy Storage Order in Ukraine

On August 14, Risen Energy and Ukrainian new energy enterprise Ascania Energy signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ninghai. The two parties will collaborate on photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage businesses, involving a total of 100MW in PV projects and 200MWh in energy storage projects.

Under the agreement, both sides will fully leverage their respective advantages in product technology, intelligent manufacturing, project development, system integration, global delivery, and localized services to jointly promote the application of solar-plus-storage projects in the Ukrainian market.

JD Energy Ships 800MWh Energy Storage Order

Recently, JD Energy secured an order for a 200MW/800MWh energy storage project in Baiyin, Gansu. The project utilizes its Galaxy-1 string-type prefabricated cabin energy storage system, with a total of 160 units deployed, which have now officially been shipped.

The project features a 4-hour energy storage duration. Once completed, it will be primarily used for new energy consumption, grid peak shaving and frequency regulation, and emergency backup, further enhancing the regulation capability of the regional power system.
