Solar Nation capped off a year of unprecedented growth with the completion of 28 commercial

solar projects in the final quarter of 2011. Installed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Oregon, the projects range in size from 51 kilowatts (kW) up to 2.0 megawatts (MW) DC and include ground-mount and roof-mount systems that utilize Solar Nation’s proprietary SolarRidge® racking.

The combined solar-electric systems will deliver enough power to meet a significant portion of the electrical needs of the grocery stores, agricultural businesses, logistics companies, transportation companies, and heavy industrial businesses who installed these systems. Each business will see significantly reduced energy costs, effectively cutting operating expenses and subsequently become better, more stable employers. At the same time, each business will be giving back to their communities by improving the environment and decreasing pressure on the electrical grid, helping to reduce brown-outs and the need for utility rate increases.

In total, the 28 solar-electric systems installed by Solar Nation are comprised of over 17,000 solar panels covering more than 261,000 square feet of existing rooftops and underutilized commercial land. Without destroying any habitat, over their expected life the combined systems will provide over 75,000 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere, the equivalent of the annual emissions of over 13,500 passenger vehicles or the amount of CO2 sequestered annually by over 14,500 acres of pine forests.

“We are extremely proud of the work we completed in the 4th quarter of 2011,” said Dan Drummond, Chief Executive Officer of Solar Nation.“ The commissioning of 28 solar-electric systems during a single quarter demonstrates Solar Nation’s ability to meet the needs of large companies with many locations spread out over large geographic regions. We look forward to expanding our capabilities in 2012 as we continue to help business, government and non-profit organizations achieve their energy, financial, and environmental objectives.”
